GEMINI is proud to introduce the “SPYDRE”, a concept where traditional style meets modern design.
The “SPYDRE” is a tandem canoe that provides a refreshing new approach to construction and assembly procedures while maintaining a clean attractive shape that appeals to so many people. Our “SPYDRE” features a strong, stable fiberglass hull with a cored bottom, full keel and over-sized floatation chambers. Our unique deck arrangement combines the end caps, gunnels, seats and yoke into a single, seamless fiberglass unit. We bond the deck to the hull using high strength polyurethane adhesives (no mechanical fastener) the unibody design produces a rigid light weight durable structure that enhances both the function and appearance of the “SPYDRE”
At GEMINI, we only plan to produce one size of canoe (unless there is enough demand for a larger size). However, we do plan on using alternative construction materials including, you guessed it, Carbon Fiber and Kevlar®.We feel that rather than produce a whole line of canoes that each target specific performance criteria such as speed, capacity or maneuverability, we would produce a canoe that provides acceptable levels of the most desirable features. Some of these features include compact size, light weight, durable construction, stable ride, adequate capacity and comfortable seats and yoke. Our “SPYDRES” are also zero maintenance because they are all composite construction (except for the serial number tag) just wash and wax to help protect the finish.
This leads us to another topic. We realize that these days people often feel the desire to have something customized to their own tastes, something different than the “same old, same old”. It’s for this reason that we offer the “SPYDRE” in any colour you want, even metallic. You can choose from our standard line of colours or you can send us a colour ship or paint code from your vehicle and we will paint the hull to match your needs. The interior of the hull also gets the same hull colour as a speckle pattern to reduce the glare inside the “SPYDRE”. The “SPYDRE” deck comes standard with a white finish that goes well with most hull colours and provides cool seating in the summer sun.
